PROCESS.
Consultation.
You, the client are central to everything at 'U'delic Design. Collaboration is key and dialogue throughout the design process is ongoing and intrinsic. A call or email, then a handshake and site visit gets the ball rolling and lays the foundation for a creative relationship.
Design Brief.
Your design brief is the start point. You wish to add, adapt or improve a physical space. The brief is derived from our conversations and ideas, it considers location, scope, function & aesthetic. It's a written document that follows the site visit and consultation. Images and visual cues can be included to guide the project.
Site Survey.
Unlocking the potential of any physical space requires an accurate measured survey in order to draw the existing. A photographic survey establishes the context and condition and provides reference for ongoing dialogue about ornament and structure.
Concept Design.
Accurate CAD plans and elevations of your existing space are drawn to form the template for proposed layouts, which explore spatial and stylistic possibilities. These respond to your brief and establish a design narrative which considers function, materiality, light, form, texture, colour, environmental scope and planning requirements.
Design Development.
Once your concept is agreed, the core elements are developed to produce an overall scheme. Structural, mechanical & electrical [M&E], lighting and key furniture items are woven in. 2D drawings and 3D visuals give life to the project. These drawings will provide sufficient information for contractors to draw up estimates for the project.
Technical Specification.
The ‘Devil is in the Detail’ and even smaller projects require a knowledgeable and attentive eye. Furniture, fixings and equipment [FF&E], sanitary ware, doors, lighting and even the draining grooves on your quartz worktop all need to be specified and agreed.
Drawing & Specification Package.
A detailed set of drawings and documents which may include; 2D plans, elevations, sections, details, M&E schematics and FF&E schedules concludes the design process by providing a roadmap for your project for you and your contractors.
Udelic's design process is flexible to the requirements of each project, depending on scope, time and resource. Dialogue with industry professionals is an important aspect that overlays all parts. Be that structural or renewable energy engineers, planners or contractors, their expertise is essential to developing a successful scheme.
